Urban Lake Living | Chicago

Epic Interiors approached this Loop residence as a highly complex transformation, merging two side-by-side condominiums into one cohesive, elevated home. Designed as a couple’s “forever home,” the project required both architectural precision and a deeply intuitive understanding of how the clients wanted to live, balancing the energy of urban living with the comfort and ease of a highly personalized space.
The primary challenge was creating a seamless experience from what were originally two separate units. Walls were removed, systems were integrated, and the layout was reimagined to support an open, flowing floor plan. Epic Interiors prioritized sightlines and spatial continuity, ensuring that the home reads as one unified environment. The design takes full advantage of its unique location, with expansive views of Lake Michigan, Millennium Park, and the surrounding cityscape informing both layout and aesthetic direction.
Throughout the home, the design transitions thoughtfully from light and refined in the front-facing spaces to a more relaxed, layered feel toward the back, reflecting the duality of city living. Furniture, materials, and architectural details were carefully scaled and positioned to enhance both function and visual flow. Existing furnishings were thoughtfully reimagined and integrated alongside new selections, creating a space that feels both collected and cohesive.
As with all of Epic’s residential design work in the Chicago area, collaboration and trust were central to the process. Working with long-term clients, the team was able to create a home that feels deeply personal while maintaining a sophisticated, modern aesthetic. The result is a human-centered residence that brings together comfort, elegance, and the vibrancy of urban life, a space that feels entirely new while honoring what came before.
