Modern Ease | Lincoln Park Transformation
As a Chicago interior designer specializing in residential design, Epic Interiors approached this Lincoln Park home as a full-scale transformation designed to better support the rhythms of a multigenerational family. What began as a kitchen renovation quickly evolved into a reimagining of the entire 4,074-square-foot residence. The existing layout felt dark and compartmentalized, limiting both flow and functionality. The goal was to create a more open, connected environment that could accommodate everyday living, family gatherings, and shared spaces across generations.
The design centered on transforming the kitchen into a modern hub for the home. By removing the existing pantry and freestanding cabinetry, the team created space for a large custom island, a full appliance wall, and expanded storage solutions. Integrated elements including a column refrigerator and freezer, double ovens, wine cooler, and built-in coffee station support both function and ease of use. A custom floating ceiling detail above the island allowed for proper ventilation while maintaining a clean, uninterrupted visual line, turning a technical constraint into a defining architectural feature.
Throughout the home, Epic Interiors balanced modern design with warmth and livability. Layered neutral tones, deep blue-green accents, and warm wood elements create a cohesive, inviting aesthetic. Existing cherry hardwood floors were preserved and refinished, grounding the space while supporting a more sustainable approach to residential design. Each decision was made with intention, ensuring that the home feels both elevated and deeply functional.
As with all of Epic’s residential design work in the Chicago area, collaboration played a central role in the process. Regular design reviews and clear communication allowed the project to evolve thoughtfully while staying aligned with the client’s vision, timeline, and budget. The result is a human-centered home that feels open, welcoming, and tailored to the way this family lives, one that continues to support connection, comfort, and everyday ease.
