Refined Design | Northbrook
Epic Interiors approached this Northbrook residence as a full-scale transformation designed to support multigenerational living while enhancing everyday comfort and ease. Originally a 1970s French country–inspired home, the property required a thoughtful reimagining to bring it into a more modern, cohesive, and livable state. From the earliest stages of the home search through renovation and final move-in, Epic guided the process with a client-centered approach rooted in collaboration, clarity, and long-term vision.
The design focused on creating a bright, welcoming home that balances refined elegance with warmth. Existing architectural elements were preserved and elevated, including the original banister, which was refinished to highlight its natural character. Throughout the home, a soft, layered palette of neutral tones, watery grays, and subtle blue accents creates cohesion while allowing each space to feel calm and intentional. Custom millwork, thoughtful material selections, and integrated storage solutions enhance both functionality and flow, ensuring the home supports daily living as seamlessly as it does entertaining.
In the primary suite, the design centers on comfort and restoration. The spa-inspired bathroom features a custom double vanity with reeded detailing, marble surfaces, heated floors, and carefully layered lighting that brings both warmth and clarity to the space. Expanded storage and a reconfigured layout transformed what was once a dated and inefficient room into a highly functional, luxurious retreat designed to support the clients’ quality of life.
Sustainability played a meaningful role throughout the project. Rather than starting from scratch, Epic Interiors thoughtfully reintegrated furnishings from multiple previous homes, minimizing waste while preserving pieces with personal significance. This approach allowed the design to feel both elevated and deeply personal, reflecting a belief that good design evolves over time rather than replacing what already exists.
As with all of Epic’s residential design work in Chicago’s North Shore, this project was rooted in partnership. Through the integration of Epic Moves, the team managed a complex, multi-location relocation with precision, overseeing everything from transport and storage to final installation. The result is a human-centered home that feels grounded, refined, and enduring, designed not just to look beautiful, but to truly support the lives unfolding within it.
